VERA BAHOU-AKRUK, PRINCIPAL
Founded Designhaus Interiors (DHI) L.L.C. in 2002 with the vision of creating a blend of sophistication, comfort, and timeless style.
Received her bachelor’s degree in interior design from Drexel University with an internship in commercial design from Merril Lynch. Vera began her career designing interior spaces, custom window treatments, and working with textiles before expanding her expertise at Robb & Stucky in Florida, where she specialized in full-scale interiors and luxury finishes. After returning to the Northeast, she broadened her portfolio with kitchen and bath design for residential clients while steadily building her own firm.
Vera is active in the American Society of Interior Designers, PA East Chapter, and has served on the board for a number of years. She is the past recipient of Chapter Awards: The Presidential Citation, the Rising Star Award, and the IDA Philadelphia Award for 1st
Place in Residential Green/Sustainable Design.
Vera was featured in Design NJ for her work on the 2008 Cape May Show House. The firm received this recognition alongside other notable accomplishments, including being named an Interior Design Award Winner for Sustainable Green Design and being highlighted in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Vera’s unique approach stems from her creativity and depth of experience—grounded in her mastery of color, custom designs, and thoughtful space planning. Her ability to build long-term relationships has allowed her to guide clients through multiple projects over the years, consistently delivering spaces that evolve with their lives.
